As the temperature rose, so did the competition as teams battled it out in a Texas Scramble format under blue skies. The post-golf proceedings kept the energy going, with Rhys Ap William swapping his golf club for a microphone to host a fantastic charity auction, raising vital funds for Signposted Cymru. The charity provides immediate intervention and tailored support for individuals and communities struggling with mental health and wellbeing, helping people to acknowledge, strive and succeed.

It was also brilliant to welcome Jiffy back on the mic for another entertaining Q&A, fresh from his travels to Glastonbury and Wimbledon and armed with new stories to keep the room laughing.

The day brought together current and former Scarlets players, coaches, foundation members, and rugby legend Jonathan ‘Jiffy’ Davies, all adding to the atmosphere both on and off the course. Our usual mix of on-course activities was back, with a special twist: “Hammer the Holley” saw Sean Holley take on golfers in a nearest-the-pin challenge on the stunning 17th.

This was a day of fun and fundraising with plenty raised for the Scarlets Community Foundation, which promotes community participation in sport, supports youth education, and champions health and wellbeing through workshops and talks across the Scarlets region.

A special mention goes to Jiffy for delivering a brilliant and hilarious post-golf Q&A, sharing stories from his round, reflecting on his time with the Scarlets, and offering his thoughts on the Lions’ upcoming tour to Australia.

The course was packed once again with snooker legends, including Shaun Murphy, John Parrott, Ken Doherty and many more, all adding their trademark charm and competitiveness to the day. As always, our on-course activities kept spirits high, including a £10,000 Hole-in-One Challenge, which provided plenty of drama and near misses.

It was also fantastic to welcome back PGA coach Hannah Bowen, who lit up the 18th with her Beat The Pro challenge. With feather boas, hard hats and some questionable dance moves, no one escaped her Village People dress-up theme, not even the World Champions.

A special shoutout to Mitchell Mann, who walked away with the honour of Top Snooker Player on the day after a superb round.

The competition was fierce as previous champions returned to defend their titles, but this year belonged to Mark Kingdom. On a day when legends are made (or at least added to the tongue-in-cheek GDG Gold Jacket Hall of Fame), Mark rose above the field to become only the third winner of the coveted Gold Jacket, joining Paul Nash and Simon Hopkin in exclusive company.

A special mention goes to Ethan Goddard, an incredibly talented 10-year-old golfer who competed on the day. It was brilliant to see Ethan and his father take on the course together at their first GDG event. Ethan impressed everyone with his skill and composure, becoming our youngest ever golfer to compete, definitely one to watch for the future.

While the competition was serious, the atmosphere remained fun and relaxed, with plenty of laughs and camaraderie enjoyed by all.

The day featured a record number of on-course activities, including a popular Beat the Pro challenge with our Travel Ambassador Jake Hapgood, who kept the competition fierce and fun. Random club challenges and creative fundraising throughout the round added to the atmosphere.

The experience was made even better by Richard Hibbard’s Mortal Bunny Rum on the 18th hole, and the former British & Irish Lion brought plenty of laughs in a lively Q&A with Sean Holley.

The GDG team ensured everything ran seamlessly, from bespoke trophies and medals to live scoring and smooth pre and post-golf entertainment.

We were honoured to welcome Professor Tom Crosby OBE, Consultant Oncologist at Velindre Cancer Centre, who delivered a powerful keynote talk that struck a chord with many in the room. Velindre is a cause close to our hearts at GDG, and his words added meaningful purpose to the day.

It was also a pleasure to be joined by current Welsh internationals Taine Plumtree and Blair Murray, who brought energy and class on the course, playing with the team from Window Solutions Wales, our fantastic event sponsor. And seeing Scott Quinnell, former British & Irish Lion and dual-code international, tee it up with Smart Energy Homesadded even more star power to the day.

His experience as a leader in both education and business  brings a unique skill set to his new role, ensuring the continued success and sustainability of  Great Days Golf.

Having first joined Great Days Golf as a summer intern, Rob’s talent, professionalism and creative drive have seen him quickly become an integral part of the business. Over the past two years, he has played a leading role in transforming the company’s digital presence and event media output, generating millions of views across Great Days Golf’s platforms and averaging over 750,000 views per month during peak season.

In his new role as Media Manager, Rob will oversee all media, marketing and communications activity across Great Days Golf’s expanding divisions, including Events, Travel, Live Scoring Wales and the Inclusion Academy. His responsibilities include leading digital strategy, managing social media growth, and coordinating photography, videography and live coverage across the full Great Days Golf calendar.

Rob has also become a recognisable face at events, hosting partner panels, leading charity auctions and fronting on-site media coverage, helping to strengthen the company’s connections with golfers, sponsors and partners. In addition to this, he heads up Great Days Golf Live Scoring Wales, where he has successfully secured partnerships such as International Pairs Wales, expanding the reach of GDG’s scoring services to events across the country.

A former Student Journalist of the Year (2023), Rob brings experience from collaborations with World Rugby, Swansea City, and the Football Association of Wales. His expertise in digital storytelling and brand communication continues to enhance the company’s professionalism, visibility and engagement across all platforms.

Dan brings a rare blend of professional golf expertise and high-level commercial experience from the world of elite sport. A former PGA Golf Professional with over a decade at Market Harborough Golf Club, Dan went on to build an impressive career in sales and hospitality, spending ten years with Leicester City Football Club during the club’s most successful era. His work helped steer the hospitality department to record sales year after year, generating over £5.5 million in revenue in his final season.

A lifelong golfer and +2.6 handicap player, Dan also represents Northamptonshire at County level and holds a PGA Level 3 coaching qualification, which he plans to use to support Great Days Golf’s Premium Partners and travel clients through personalised coaching and golf development opportunities.

In his new role, Dan will lead the continued growth of Great Days Golf Travel, designing bespoke packages that combine world-class golf with the personal service and attention to detail that define the brand. Working closely with everyone at GDG, he will play a key role in shaping the next phase of GDG’s travel strategy.
